Mr. Cowan holds a degree in Business Administration from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and a Ph.D. in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was Advisor and Vice President of the CMF, Manager of the Financial Policy Division of the Central Bank of Chile, Chief Economist and Capital Markets Coordinator at the Ministry of Finance, and Director of the IDB and the IIC. He is currently a professor at the Adolfo Ibáñez University Business School and Director of Banco Itaú. He joined the Committee in August 2025.
