Heidi Berner Herrera
Heidi Berner Herrera is a commercial engineer with a major in Economics from the University of Chile and a Master's in Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
In May 2020, she was appointed Vice Chancellor for Economic Affairs and Institutional Management at the University of Chile, the first woman to assume that responsibility. She was also executive director of the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Economics and Business of the same house of studies.
She was Undersecretary of Social Evaluation of the Ministry of Social Development during the four years of the second government of former President Michelle Bachelet. During his administration, the Social Household Registry (RSH) was created, which replaced the old social protection file and the process of updating the poverty measurement, in which the measurement of multidimensional poverty was introduced.
Likewise, it promoted the transformation of public instruments, such as the incorporation of natural disaster risk in the social evaluation of public investment projects and the design and implementation of the Integrated Social Information System (SIIS), among others.
Previously, she was head of the Management Control Division of the Budget Directorate and coordinator of impact evaluations of the same Division in the Ministry of Finance.
In addition, she has been a consultant for international organizations such as the World Bank, the IDB and ECLAC.
Before her appointment, she worked as the coordinator of Modernization of the State of the Ministry of Finance.
